23rd Annual Williamsburg British Car Club; British & European Car Show To benefit The Arc of Greater Williamsburg The Shops at High St. High Street, Williamsburg, VA 23185
Saturday, April 22, 2023 | 10a-2p
Schedule:
Registrants/Exhibitors: 9:00am show field opens to registered cars for field placement.
Spectators: 10:00am to 2:00pm, open to spectators, food from on-site restaurants available
Special note: this year ALL voting will be done by our panel of experienced judges. This way we can take the burden off our participants and spectators and ensure the awards will be presented close to the 2:00PM ending time. All European cars are welcome to register.
Preregistration Guidelines:
Preregistration must be received by April 8th, 2023. All registered cars will be placed in a class for judging and award purposes. Cars must be parked with their assigned class to be eligible for awards. Trailer parking is available nearby. All cars must be driven onto the show field under their own power. Classes will be determined by preregistered entries. The Chairman’s Best will be judged by the show Chairman and the panel of WBCC judges. This is a rain or shine show; since the parking lot is a two-story structure, and the bottom lot is dry, the show can be moved here if need be.
A portion of the proceeds (after WBCC expenses) will be given to The Arc of Greater Williamsburg. Door prizes will be awarded and there will be a 50-50 raffle. Email: WBCCBCD@gmail.com; contact: Jerald Jacobs 757-319-2223 or chapjacobs@hotmail.com. Car show dash plaques will be distributed to all preregistered vehicles. Kit cars and motorcycles allowed for display only.
Featured Marque:
This year, our featured Marque is MG automobiles. MG is a British automotive marque founded by Cecil Kimber in the 1920s, and M.G. Car Company Limited was the British sports car manufacturer that made the marque famous. Best known for its open two-seater sports cars, MG also produced saloons and coupés, with engines up to three litres in size and 3.5L in the case of the MGB GT V8. The marque is now owned by Chinese state-owned automaker SAIC Motor Corporation Limited.
MG cars had their roots in a 1920s sales promotion sideline of Morris Garages, a retail sales and service centre in Oxford belonging to William Morris. The business’s manager, Cecil Kimber, modified standard production Morris Oxfords and added MG Super Sports to the plate at the nose of the car. A separate M.G. Car Company Limited was incorporated in July 1930. It remained Morris’s personal property until 1 July 1935, when he sold it to his holding company, Morris Motors Limited.
Pre-registration prior to April 8, 2023: $25.00; after April 8, 2023 and day of the show: $30.00.
